Kathmandu, August 3-Compared to other countries, China has committed the largest amount of direct foreign investment (FDI) to Nepal in the recently concluded fiscal year.
In 2017/18, Nepal received FDI commitments from 57 countries and the northern neighbour alone pledged around Rs 58 billion, according to the Department of Industry (DoI). China has been committing the highest amount of FDI for the last few years. There have been growing investment pledges from Chinese investors in the areas of hydropower, cement, herbal medicines and tourism sector.
Similarly, India pledged Rs 7.08 billion, the US Rs 3.01 billion, South Korea Rs 2.07 billion in the last fiscal, says the DoI.
