Sudurpaschim, July 27 : Construction works of the road projects selected as the provincial pride projects by the Sudurpaschim State government have been started. Such works begun on the road sections under the ‘province pride project’ for which the survey and the detailed project report (DPR) has been already conducted.

One road each from the nine districts of the State has been selected as the ‘province pride road project’. These road projects have been taken as the backbone of the overall infrastructure development of the State.

Director of the Regional Transport Infrastructure Development Office Dipayal, Prem Datta Bhatta said the roads for which the track has already been opened have been selected as the province pride projects and construction works started. However, new track has to be opened on these road projects at several places. Works like survey and others remain to be carried out on most parts of several roads.

The State government had allocated Rs 420 million in its annual budget for the fiscal year 2019/20 for the construction of these nine roads. But the entire budget allocated under this heading could not be spent. In its policy and programmes for the fiscal year 2020/21, the State government has committed that construction of the province pride road projects would be expedited this year.

“Works on these road projects are being carried out fully in the current fiscal year and the next fiscal,” Bhatta said. These roads are being constructed through the Infrastructure Development Office.

The province pride road projects include the road up to Bajhang from Dadeldhura, the Sahajpur –Dipayal road in Doti, the Bhajani- Khimadi road in Kailali, the Bajhang Patihalna- Humla link road, the Jangalghat to Badimalika road in Achham district, the Khaptad-Martadi road in Bajura district and the Baitadi Satbanjh- Darchula road, the Khalanga- Khandeshwori road in Darchula district and the Belauri-Kaluwapur -Budar road in Kanchanpur district.
