May 18 : Dibesh Pokharel has won the first runner-up title of the American Idol. The 22-year-old Pokharel, who lives in Wichita city of Kansas won the title of the 18th edition of the American Idol, the famous reality show hosted by the American ABC Television channel. Dibesh had been selected among the last five finalists passing through the last 20th, 10th and seventh final rounds.
He had secured encouraging number of votes in all the selection rounds. Pokharel has introduced himself as Arthur Gunn in the American Idol show. His participation in the American Idol had raised a lot of interest among the Nepali community here and he had got the votes of Nepalis from around the globe.
Pokharel has thanked all those who voted him. He was selected for the American Idol last September. Dibesh from Kathmandu of Nepal had come to the US six years ago. Back in Nepal, he had brought out ‘Grahan’ a Nepali song album. Twenty one years old Jost Sam has won the title of American Idol. She is of Liberian origin. RSS
