Raj Kumar Chhetri has been given the responsibility of acting director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the regulatory body of the country’s aviation sector.
CAAN Director General Rajan Pokharel has resigned from the post due to the age limit. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has given the responsibility of acting director-general to Chhetri on the basis of seniority.
Acting Director-General Chhetri said that he is committed to widening the prestige of the organization by effectively promoting CAAN. He said that he would work to make the aviation sector of the country more secure, reliable and credible by strengthening the institutional structure through policy reforms.
Pokhrel, who was preparing to take compulsory leave, resigned from the post on Tuesday evening. Rajkumar Chhetri has 34 years of experience in the aviation sector. He has served as CAAN’s spokesperson and general manager of Tribhuvan International Airport.
