Fikkal, October 11: The Super Mai Hydro Pvt. Ltd. operated in Ilam has started test power generation.
The hydroelectricity project is situated on the bank of the Mai Khola river on the foothill bordering Barbote of Ilam Municipality-5 and Soyang of Maijogmai rural municipality-4 in Ilam district.
The project generates 7.8 megawatts power which has been fed to the national grid. There are 11 hydropower projects operating in Ilam district giving it the nickname ‘hydropower district’.
Managing director of the project Madhav Prasad Mainali maintained that the project has been completed 22 months ahead of the scheduled completion date. The construction of the project had started in April 2015. He added that the project would start regular production after 15 days.
The project is constructed with joint investment of Rs 1.50 billion by Siddhartha Bank, Sanima Bank, Century Commercial Bank and Jyoti Bikas Bank. RSS
