Kathmandu, March 27 : The Internet Service Providers’ Association of Nepal (ISPAN) has warned that the internet service may face difficulties due to a sharp rise in its consumption.
Owing to the national lockdown being imposed by the government since Tuesday (March 24) to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the usage of internet across the country is said to have increased by around two times. As people are remaining indoors by strictly curtailing their outer movements, such usage has gone through the roof.
According to the ASPAN, the available bandwidth in the country may not be adequate to accommodate the fast surging demand. “If it really happens, the internet speed will significantly slow down.”In this context, the internet service providers have also appealed their customers to reduce their consumption rate in order to ward off the possible internet disruption.
