Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said that the government would complete the remaining post-earthquake reconstruction works on a regular basis.
Addressing the International Conference on Reconstruction of Nepal held in the capital, Minister Sharma informed that the responsibility has been handed over to the Ministry of Urban Development to complete the work of private housing in the current fiscal year.
Finance Minister Sharma said that an integrated slum development program has been launched for the relocation of geographically endangered settlements in the country along with the campaign for the reconstruction of private and public structures damaged by the earthquake and the government has taken serious steps to improve and protect the slums.
He said that the reconstruction of school health institutions and government and public historical and archeological heritage damaged by the earthquake has led to the reconstruction of various historical monuments of the country such as temples, monasteries, Dharahara, Ranipokhari and Durbar High School among others.
He said that the successful reconstruction works has not only built the damaged structures but also developed Nepal’s decision-making capacity and knowledge in the field of technology.
