A meeting of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) chaired by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale today has allocated Rs. 1 billion to upgrade the Dhangadhi Airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has stated that the budget has been allocated for the acquisition of land for the construction of the regional-level airport.
The meeting also passed a plan for the expansion and construction of Dhangadhi Airport as a regional airport and a proposal to acquire 250 bighas of land, said Raj Kumar Chhetri, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.
He said, “The plan to make Dhangadhi airport a regional airport has been passed and the proposal to acquire land has been passed. We will take it to the Council of Ministers soon.”
CAAN has stated that the work of the regional airport in Dhangadhi will move ahead after the proposal is passed by the cabinet. The budget has been allocated as per Ale’s commitment to make Dhangadhi a regional airport.
Professor Dr. Hemraj informed that after the construction of the regional airport in Dhangadhi, there will be a leap in the development and people’s life of the far western region.
He said, “Building a regional airport is a milestone project for the Far West. Minister Ale has fulfilled the dream of the Far West for many years. We are happy.”
Similarly, the meeting held today has allocated a budget for the expansion of the runway of the airport and construction of the terminal building in Achham’s Sanphebgar, Kamal Bazaar, Doti’s Dipayal and Dadeldhura.
