The Floriculture Development Center in Godabari, under the Government of Bagmati Province, has issued a notice to inform the public that the recommendation for import permits of Indian marigold garlands has been temporarily discontinued since October 18. This decision was made due to the belief that domestic production can adequately meet the demand for Tihar this year.

The center has stressed that any import of Indian marigold garlands without the necessary permit is considered illegal. In response to such unauthorized imports, the authorities have warned that monitoring efforts will be intensified through collaborative actions involving both government and private institutions. Individuals found violating the import regulations may face confiscation of the goods and fines.

There is a legal provision to import crops and plant-related materials only after obtaining an entry permit from the relevant Plant Quarantine Office. When it comes to importing floral materials, an entry permit is granted solely upon the recommendation of the Floriculture Development Center.
