Kathmandu, July 24 : As many as 147 new cases of the coronavirus infection have been reported in the country on Thursday (July 23). At a routine press conference organized by the Ministry of Health and Population, spokesperson Dr Jageswor Gautam shared that the new cases were diagnosed while testing 3,481 swab samples in different laboratories across the country. With this, the nationwide count of the COVID-19 infected has reached 18,241. Likewise, the number of active infected is 5,358.

According to the state-wise distribution of the number of active infected, 124 were confirmed in the State 1 followed by 1,897 in the State 2; 427 in the Bagmati State; 324 in the Gandaki State; 344 in the State 5; 304 in the Karnali State and 1,938 in the Sudurpaschim State. Number of infected people discharged from different hospitals after recovery on Thursday is 156. With this, the number of discharged has reached 12,840.

Currently, there are 20,098 people living in quarantines, spokesperson Gautam informed. With the addition of one more death, the number of infected losing life to the COVID-19 has reached 43. A 70-year-old man of Maisthan, Birgunj died while undergoing treatment at temporary COVID Hospital of Narayani Hospital.

The Ministry confirmed that he died in the evening of 22 July. Nine confirmed to have corona infected in Kathmandu As many as nine persons have been diagnosed to have contracted COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the ministry, two from Bhaktapur, two from Lalitpur and five from Kathmandu have been diagnosed with the virus today.
