Finland and UAE pledge to cooperate Nepal’s development efforts

Kathmandu, September 25: Finland and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have pledged to assist socio-economic development of Nepal. The commitments were made by the ministers of Finland and UAE.in separate meetings with Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, who is here to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

On the occasion, Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland Ville Skinnari and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Bin Mohammad Gargash made the commitment for cooperation. In a meeting with the Finnish Minister, matters concerning bilateral relations and mutual interests and benefits were discussed.

The two ministers agreed to develop collaboration between Nepal and Finland in multilateral and regional forums and bring the existing relationship to a new height. Minister Gyawali had urged his Finnish counterpart to invest in the areas of physical infrastructure, energy and water resource taking advantage of investment-friendly climate of Nepal.

Finnish cooperation would be instrumental in Nepal’s efforts for development, he said, adding Nepal has expected an elevated level of cooperation from the development partners, including Finland to Nepal’s journey to prosperity. Minister Skinnari pledged continuous support from Finland to Nepal’s efforts for socio-economic development.

Likewise, matters related to mutual interests and benefits were discussed in the meeting with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. The two ministers exchanged their ideas focusing on the matters related to Nepali workforce facilities and security in UAE, UAE investment and trade in Nepal. RSS
