Defence Ministry sees weaker fiscal progress

Kathmandu, December 2: Fiscal progress of the developmental projects under the Ministry of Defence has seen weaker in comparison to its infrastructural development progress.

The four months’ progress review meeting of the Ministry held on Sunday (Dec 1 ) under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel in Singhadurbar came up with such conclusion. The departmental chiefs of various departments have commented that the first four months’ report showed that the fiscal progress remained weaker due to various technical reasons but upcoming fourth-month report would be improved in the days to come.

Out of 20 targeted projects, 17 had received 100 per cent success report. On the occasion, discussions on Tarai-Kathmandu Express Way, Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang Corridor, Kaligandaki Corridor and Defence University establishment process were discussed. DPM Pokharel directed the concerned department chiefs to deliver best results after coordinating with different ministries and bodies regarding the projects.

Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa committed to achieve the best results in the days to come. Secretary at the Ministry Reshmi Raj Pandey shared that the Detail Project Report (DPR) of expressway was approved and land acquisition process for the construction of Defence University was underway.
