Kathmandu, January 28: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal has said that the government was carrying out a deep study over the land scam of Lalita Niwa’s area, Baluwatar.

At a news conference organized by the Ministry to share the key achievements of the past two years, she said that the ministry was collecting minute evidences of the Baluwatar land scam so that there will be no such problem in future.

In addition to the Ministry, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police are also conducting separate probes. On the occasion, Minister Aryal said that the government has brought 2,829 square meters of land under its name from the individuals.

Minister Aryal also shared that the government was searching for different historical heritages, the land plots missing under Guthi operated for religious activities and other encroached land. Likewise, she claimed that the government has done its best to ensure access to land to the landless and squatters to ensure social justice.

Laws were amended to make this happen, she shared. Similarly, Aryal said that the Land Use Act, 2019 is already approved, which ensures well planned and scientific use of land, protection of the farmland and assurance of the residential areas.

The Minister went on to say that Cooperatives’ Auditing Guidelines, 2019 has been implemented while draft of an Act on savings and loan mobilization for the cooperative is prepared. On land management, some 25 million land plots of 3 million landowners have been digitized and a total of 108 land revenue officials were run through modern technology, Aryal added.

Similarly, service delivery of 11 offices is simplified while CCTV cameras have been installed in 20 land revenue offices and 11 land revenue offices are developed as the model office equipped with modern technology.
