Kathmandu, April 14 : A meeting of the Council of Ministers has today decided to extend the national lockdown period until April 27. The meeting held here in Baluwatar took a decision to this effect amidst rising COVID-19 cases. As of today, Nepal has seen as many as 16 such cases.
The country has been been undergoing the lockdown since March 24 . All government services except the essential ones and private institutions have been shut down, domestic and international flights have been suspended and people’s movements have been restricted across the country.
The Indian government too has decided to extend the lockdown till May 3 earlier today. In the southern neighbour, with which Nepal shares open and porous border, around 350 people have already died of the coronavirus. .
