Kathmandu, April 21 : The Legislation Management Committee of the upper chamber of the Federal Parliament, the National Assembly, on Monday (April 20) issued a 12-point directive to the government and related bodies for addressing the difficulties faced by the people during the lockdown.

The video meeting chaired by the Committee president Parashuram Meghi Gurung urged the government to immediately addressing the problems faced by the daily wagers, workers and the general public due to the lockdown through the local people’s representatives and local administration. The Committee also called for further expanding the coverage of tests for COVID-19, identifying the affected areas and proper management, and making the local supply system efficient and smooth.

Similarly, the Committee urged the government to make arrangements for a reliable health care and safety of Nepalis abroad taking their situation into account and regulating the country’s international border with tight surveillance.

The meeting issued directives to the government on the need of appropriately addressing the workers, farmers, the low-income section and industrialists through the upcoming budget in view of the present situation. Likewise, it called for making arrangements for providing adequate health equipment, including PPEs and incentives, to the health workers by recognising their contribution.

The Committee also directed the government to make provision in the upcoming budget for spending the amount of the MP Development Fund in local industries and employment promotion.

It, likewise, directed the government to make proper management of the quarantine facilities and their regular monitoring, to adopt a selective approach in enforcement of the lockdown in view of the current harvest and cultivation time of farmers and to address the needs of small and big projects as well as industries in course of the selective lockdown.RSS
