Bhaktapur Chamber President Shiva Prasad Manandhar led the delegation to the PM and requested him for special efforts for the infrastructure development in Bhaktapur. The delegation also submitted an 11-point memo to PM Deuba.

The government commitment to the institutional development of democracy and complete adherence to constitution was requested for propping up Bhaktapur development, Manandhar said. He hailed that the local level elections were conducted peacefully because of resolution of PM Deuba, which, Manandhar stated, had encouraged the businesspersons in hope of economic prosperity and political stability.

PM Deuba was requested for permitting Bhaktapur Municipality to run the Khwopa University. The delegation argued if the Khwopa University was brought into operation, specialist doctors could be produced within the country.

Similarly, the prime minister’s attention was drawn towards taking initiatives to tarmac the Bhaktapur-Nagarkot roadway, construction of national sanctuary in Suryabinayak Municipality, construction of an international conference centre in Bhaktapur, construction of star hotel by building infrastructures for tourism development and development of current Bhaktapur Industrial Estate as handicraft village.

Other points the delegation put forth before PM Deuba were establishment of chemical fertiliser plant in the district for commercial farming, running the agro retail market centre for the commercialisation of agriculture, necessary amendments in laws to build competitive capacity of Nepali products among other issues.

PM Deuba accepted the request made by the delegation and assured to undertake necessary initiatives, according to Association Member Nawin Prajapati.
