Banke, December 11: Unnecessary hassles from Indian side in the name of ‘transit permit’ have shrunk the export of herbal products.
The herbal export has witnessed difficulties when the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department of India created unnecessary hassles to the businesspersons in the name of transit permit, customs, food lab and plant quarantine checks, said the Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association Nepalgunj.
The entrepreneurs have complained that the export of herbal products have witnessed downward trend due to government apathy in action for herbal promotion.
Entrepreneurs of Nepalgunj now have started using Sunauli checkpoint for herbal export when the y face recurring troubles while transporting the products via Rupediya checkpoint. It has resulted in annual reduction of volume of herbal export to India from Nepalgunj through Rupedia.
Until a decade ago annually around 7 million kg herbal products used to export to India via the checkpoint, which has now slumped to insignificant volume, said the Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association Nepalgunj. RSS
