The district administration office has started the land acquisition process for the substation to be built in Banepa Municipality-5 after issuing a notice. In the notice, the concerned people have been requested to file a formal application within 20 days to claim compensation for the houses and structures.

It is mentioned that if the deadline passes without submitting the application within the specified time, it will be done according to the law. As many as 14 plots of land in the name of 16 people are about to be acquired.

The substation is going to be constructed to meet the electricity demand of Kavre for the next 30 years. Due to the lack of infrastructure, the situation of load shedding in the future is about to be over due to the construction of the substation.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is working on a plan to solve the problem of more reliable power supply and emergency power cuts in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kavre districts. Structural improvement, upgrading and expansion of 66 KV, 132 KV and 220 KV transmission lines and substations within the valley are going to be conducted as well. In the valley alone, the authority is improving the system by spending 60 billion rupees.
