The District Administration Office, Sankhuwasabha, has issued a public notice stating that land in Khandbari Municipality, specifically in ward numbers 1, 2, 4, and 8, will be permanently acquired for the construction of transmission line towers of Arun III.

During a meeting held on June 30 under the supervision of the Chief District Officer, compensation for the land, including houses, sheds, and trees, has been determined. The concerned homeowners have been requested to promptly apply for compensation.

In the event that local residents are dissatisfied with the compensation amount, they have the option to apply to the Ministry of Home Affairs within 15 days. Compensation amounts ranging from Rs 500,000 to Rs 800,000 have been fixed based on the type of land. The land of 29 individuals is set to be acquired.

Arun-III is a semi-reservoir hydroelectric project being developed by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, a Government of India-owned entity. With the project already over halfway completed, the aim is to start generating electricity within the next 18 months.

The project intends to export the generated electricity to India, and for this purpose, a 400 kV transmission line will be constructed.
