The Chobhar Dry Port aims to streamline services for importers and exporters through a centralized system while organizing transportation entering Kathmandu. The joint venture has officially registered as Trans Nepal TRS Logipark Pvt Ltd and formalized the agreement with the Board.

As per the agreement, the company is set to take over the operation and management of the Chobhar Dry Port starting from December 15. The agreement signing ceremony, attended by Ashish Gajurel, executive director of the Board, saw the agreement inked by Director Yuvak Dangol and Managing Director Mukesh Kumar Rathi on behalf of the operating company.

In accordance with the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board (Establishment) Order, 2054, the Board serves as a regulatory body, granting Trans Nepal Freight Services JV the responsibility of operating and managing the terminals, including the dry port, integrated check post, and container freight station.

Executive Director Gajurel, speaking at the event, noted the increasing commercial utilization of Chobhar Dry Port in the 20 months since its inception. He anticipates that privatizing the port’s operation and management will enhance efficiency, leading to increased government revenue.

Similarly, Rathi, representing the operating company, expressed their commitment to collaborating with the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee and other relevant government bodies to ensure the effective operation and management of the dry port.
