NEPSE Records Marginal Gain; Market Turnover Rises to NPR 11.72 Billion

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a modest increase on Sunday, rising by 4.98 points to close at 2,753.76. The market opened at 2,748.78 and initially surged to a high of 2,787.87 within the first 36 minutes of trading. However, it then followed a downward trajectory, reaching a low of 2,749.6 points in the final minutes. A slight recovery of four points helped close the day in positive territory.

In terms of turnover, the market saw an increase, with daily turnover rising to NPR 11.72 billion from NPR 10.32 billion on Thursday.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, recorded a small decline of 0.12 points. Out of the total listed companies, 145 saw gains while 92 experienced losses. Of the 13 groups, four reported losses, with the non-life insurance sector seeing the largest decline of 92.67 points. On the other hand, the hotels and tourism sector posted the highest gain, rising by 153.15 points.

Among individual companies, Ngadi Group Power Ltd led in turnover, with a notable NPR 451.71 million in trading volume. Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited were the biggest gainers, each appreciating by 10%. On the flip side, Samriddhi Finance Company Limited and Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited saw declines of 10% in their market prices.

Overall, the market showed a mixed performance with gains in certain sectors offsetting losses in others.
