India has announced a tender worth Rs 2.54 billion for constructing a dry port in Dodhara Chandani Municipality-1, Kanchanpur district, following an agreement between Nepal’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation and the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board (NITDB) to clear trees from the project site.

According to Ashish Gajurel, Executive Director of NITDB, preparations for construction are advancing, with the final tree count report expected by Sunday. Once received, Nepal will issue bids for tree clearance, enabling site preparation.

The dry port project, part of a bilateral agreement signed on June 1, 2023, between Nepal and India, is supported financially and technically by the Indian government. The project spans 42.36 hectares and includes constructing key facilities such as two warehouse buildings, customs and quarantine buildings, immigration and security offices, and an integrated check post.

Construction activities for the Integrated Check Post will commence once the site is cleared, marking a significant step in enhancing cross-border trade and infrastructure between the two countries.
