NEPSE Declines by 14.08 Points Amid Market Volatility

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by 14.08 points on Tuesday, closing at 2,715.91 points. The market opened at 2,730 points and briefly reached a high of 2,745.15 points within the first hour. However, the index experienced a steady decline, hitting the day’s low of 2,707.89 points with 45 minutes remaining in the trading session. A slight recovery of eight points was observed before the market closed.

Among the sectors, the ‘Others’ and Hydropower groups were the only gainers, rising by 9.27 points and 6.09 points, respectively. Meanwhile, 11 sectors declined, with the Development Bank sector suffering the heaviest loss of 156.87 points, followed by Hotels and Tourism, which fell by 124.69 points. The Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, dropped by 2.49 points. The daily market turnover also saw a decline, falling to Rs 8.91 billion from Rs 11.87 billion on Monday.

Out of 233 traded companies, 71 recorded gains while 162 ended in losses. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited led the market with a turnover of Rs 308.71 million. Joshi Hydropower Development Company saw the highest price surge, gaining 9.98 percent in market value. On the losing side, Corporate Development Bank, Green Development Bank, and Sindhu Bikash Bank suffered the steepest declines.

Despite the downturn, market analysts are closely watching sectoral trends and turnover patterns for future market movements.
