The executive order issued by US President Donald Trump’s administration has impacted seven programs initiated by the Government of Nepal, the Ministry of Finance announced in a press release on Monday.
Among the affected programs are the Biodiversity Program, the Provincial and Local Governance Support Program, and the Climate Resilient Municipal Services Program. Additionally, four other programs related to education, health, agriculture, and statistics, which operate through Nepal’s budget system, have been suspended for 90 days as per the executive order issued on January 20, 2025.
The ministry clarified that no financial assistance had been received for these programs, as they were still in the planning phase.
The statement also emphasized that the United States has been a key development partner for Nepal, providing economic, social, and infrastructure support for decades. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been offering grant assistance to Nepal since 1951, playing a vital role in the country’s development efforts.
