The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a double-digit decline on the first trading day of the week. Today, the NEPSE index fell by 21.63 points, settling at 2,714.85.
A total of 13,974,452 shares from 316 companies were traded 79,031 times, amounting to a total transaction value of NPR 6.83 billion.
While the trading sector saw an increase of 4.92%, all other sector indices declined. The development bank sector witnessed the highest drop of 2.25%. Other sectoral declines include banking (-0.80%), finance (-1.39%), hotels and tourism (-0.53%), hydropower (-1.29%), investment (-1.72%), life insurance (-1.06%), manufacturing and processing (-0.01%), microfinance (-0.88%), mutual funds (-0.04%), non-life insurance (-0.72%), and others (-1.52%).
Community Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd. recorded the highest share price increase of 8.19%, while Green Development Bank Ltd. saw the biggest decline of 7.91%.
In terms of transaction value, Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd. led the market with NPR 586.6 million worth of trades. Meanwhile, in terms of share volume, Ghalemdi Hydro Ltd. topped the list, with 1,193,937 shares traded.
