To mark the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations, regular commercial charter flights will commence between Chengdu, China, and Pokhara International Airport starting Tuesday.
Sichuan Airlines, with support from Sichuan Province, will operate the first regular commercial chartered flight to Pokhara International Airport.
The Nepal Tourism Board expects the flight to enhance air connectivity between Nepal and China, boosting tourism, cultural exchange, and business collaboration.
“The Pokhara-Chengdu flight will offer travelers in central and western Nepal easy access to affordable air services, while also providing Chinese tourists the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Pokhara,” the Board stated. “This air connection will play a key role in increasing international tourist arrivals to Nepal, supporting both the ‘Visit Nepal 2025’ campaign by the Chinese government and the ‘Pokhara Tourism Year’ campaign by the Nepali government.”
A Nepali delegation will travel on the inaugural commercial charter flight from Chengdu to Pokhara as part of the ‘Pokhara-Chengdu Flight Promotion and China (Sichuan) Sales Mission 2025.’ The delegation will participate in business meetings with government and private sector representatives in Chinese cities such as Chengdu, Luzhou, and Leshan.
“These efforts will not only promote Nepal as a major tourist destination but also strengthen tourism cooperation between the two countries,” the Board added.
The Nepal Tourism Board expressed gratitude to Sichuan Airlines, the Sichuan Provincial Government, the Pokhara Tourism Council, and other partners for their support in making this historic initiative a success. Additionally, the Board anticipates that this initiative will strengthen cultural exchange and help establish Nepal as a leading international tourism destination.
