PAN Registrations Surpass 433,000 in First Seven Months of Fiscal Year 2024/25

The number of taxpayers registering for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) has exceeded 433,000 in the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, according to the Ministry of Finance.

By mid-February, the total PAN registrations reached 433,703, compared to 426,330 during the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Breakdown of PAN Registrations

  • Individual PANs: 363,702 registrations, up from 352,311 in the previous year.
  • Business PANs: 68,485 registrations, a decline from 70,648 last year.
  • Tax Deduction Entity PANs: 1,516 registrations, down from 3,371 in the previous year.

Individual PANs made up 69.3% of total registrations, business PANs 30.2%, and tax deduction entity PANs 0.5%.

Decline in VAT and Excise Tax PANs

The number of taxpayers registering for VAT and excise tax PANs has also decreased:

  • VAT PANs: 14,299 (down from 16,036 last year).
  • Excise Tax PANs: 5,764 (down from 6,314 last year).

Total PAN Registrations

As of mid-February, a total of 6.659 million taxpayers have registered for PAN in Nepal.
