Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has stated that Nepal’s economic growth is projected to reach 4.61 percent in the current fiscal year. Presenting the Economic Survey for fiscal year 2081/82 in Parliament on Thursday, he noted improvements in various economic indicators.
The Economic Survey, originally scheduled to be made public on Tuesday, was delayed due to obstruction in Parliament by opposition parties demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. Minister Paudel formally presented the survey to the Parliament today.
The Economic Survey reflects the overall economic and social status of the country. It is a long-standing tradition for the government to release the survey ahead of the annual budget announcement.
Primarily, the survey provides an overview and analysis of the economic and social activities at the federal, provincial, and local levels during the previous fiscal year and the first eight months of the current fiscal year. It also includes updates on sectoral development, governance, long-term development goals, current issues, citizens’ living standards, industrial production, and employment-related data.
