Governor Biswo Nath Paudel has begun preparations for formulating a monetary policy aimed at positively impacting the general public.
To support this effort, he has formed a three-member study committee under the coordination of Rewat Bahadur Karki, former chairman of the Nepal Securities Board. The committee also includes Guru Paudel, head of the NRB’s Regulation Department, and former banker Bhuvan Dahal.
According to Nepal Rastra Bank sources, the committee will study the problems and challenges in the banking sector, as well as explore avenues for reform.
The committee is expected to submit its report within a month. The monetary policy for the upcoming fiscal year will be based on this report.
Earlier, Governor Paudel had traveled outside the Kathmandu Valley to better understand public needs before drafting the policy. Upon returning from his short visit, he established the study committee.
Nepal Rastra Bank is required to publish the new monetary policy by mid-Shrawan (around July 30).
