Birgunj Customs Collects Highest Revenue from Petroleum Imports

The Birgunj Customs Office has collected the highest revenue from petroleum imports in the first two months of the current fiscal year, amounting to Rs 11.18 billion.

According to the office, petroleum products worth Rs 26.33 billion were imported during the period. Petroleum accounted for 28.56 percent of the total customs revenue collected from the top 20 imported goods.

Chief Customs Administrator Bishnu Prasad Gyawali stated that petroleum products and vehicles contributed significantly to the customs revenue. “The customs office largely depends on imports, with petroleum products and vehicles making up a substantial portion,” Gyawali said.

Revenue collected from the import of vehicles and spare parts amounted to Rs 6.14 billion, representing 15.68 percent of total revenue. Likewise, imports of iron and iron-based goods contributed Rs 2.54 billion (6.49 percent), while various types of textiles accounted for Rs 1.98 billion (5.06 percent).

In total, the Birgunj Customs Office collected Rs 39.15 billion in revenue during the first two months of the current fiscal year.
