Amid a shortage of cooking gas in the domestic market, driven by the evolving situation in West Asia, Nepal has imported a total of 2,136 LP gas bullets through the Birgunj customs point over the past one and a half months.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, 1,560 LP gas bullets were brought into the country during the month of Falgun alone. In addition, 1,403 gas bullets were imported in Magh, while 576 have already been imported in Chaitra as of Friday.
Overall, in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, LP gas imports through Birgunj customs have reached Rs 20.85 billion. During the same period in the previous fiscal year, imports totaled Rs 24.6 billion.
The increased inflow of LP gas highlights efforts to address the ongoing supply shortage and stabilize availability in the Nepali market.
