Remittance Inflow Reaches Rs 1,449.65 Billion in Eight Months

Nepali migrant workers have sent a total of Rs 1,449.65 billion in remittances during the first eight months of the current fiscal year, spanning from mid-July 2025 to mid-March 2026.

According to data from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), remittance inflows surged by 37.7 percent during this period, a sharp rise compared to the 9.5 percent growth recorded in the same timeframe last year.

In the one-month period from February 13 to March 14, remittance inflow stood at Rs 188.64 billion, up from Rs 151.19 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The NRB report also noted that net secondary income (net transfers) increased significantly, reaching Rs 1,591.66 billion compared to Rs 1,149.30 billion last year.

During the review period, 273,536 Nepalis obtained final labor permits (both institutional and individual for new employment), while 251,985 secured re-entry permits. In the same period last year, 317,068 individuals received final labor permits and 217,403 obtained re-permits.
