The government has increased the minimum support prices for wheat and spring paddy (Chaite Dhan) for the current year, raising them by Rs 77.62 and Rs 55.08 per quintal, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD), the revised minimum price of wheat has been set at Rs 3,945 per quintal. Similarly, the minimum purchase price of spring paddy now stands at Rs 2,856.49 per quintal.
The fixed price of spring paddy applies to grain with moisture content of up to 18 percent. If the moisture level exceeds this limit, the price will be adjusted by reducing the weight by 1.200 kilograms per quintal.
Each year, the government sets minimum support prices to ensure fair returns for farmers and to encourage the production of essential crops. Last year, the minimum price of wheat was Rs 3,867.38 per quintal, while spring paddy was priced at Rs 2,800.69 per quintal.
