Goods worth Rs 79.54 billion were exported to foreign countries through the Birgunj customs checkpoint during the first nine months of the current fiscal year.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, this marks an increase of Rs 10.19 billion, or 15 percent, compared to the same period last fiscal year, when exports totaled Rs 69.35 billion.
Information Officer Uday Singh Bista said the steady growth reflects improved export performance through the checkpoint. Refined soybean oil dominated exports, reaching Rs 43.61 billion over the nine-month period, up from Rs 36.62 billion a year earlier.
Fruit juice exports also saw a slight rise, totaling Rs 5.84 billion compared to Rs 5.77 billion in the same period last year.
Exports of refined palm oil recorded a significant surge, jumping to Rs 5.24 billion from just Rs 590 million in the previous year. However, refined sunflower oil exports declined to Rs 5.05 billion, down from Rs 6.61 billion.
In addition, garments worth Rs 2.69 billion and synthetic yarn worth Rs 1.94 billion were exported during the review period, according to the customs office.
