Lhasa, May 2: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said the role of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) was critically important for Nepal to propel BRI, Protocol to the Agreement on Transit and Transport or any project in new border entry point with China.

Foreign Minister Gyawali, who is an on a visit to Lhasa, attended a dinner hosted by Nepal’s Consul General for Lhasa General Govinda Bahadur Karki on Wednesday (May 1) in honor of the Nepali delegation. On the occasion, Minister Gyawali expressed thanks to the Chinese government for the resumption of Tatopani border point, effective from May.

Tibet is a testimony to the fact that development and progress are possible anywhere with strong determination, he said while congratulating the Tibet government for its success in infrastructure development, environment, technology, and people’s livelihood. Also on the same occasion, deputy secretary of Chinese Communist Party’s Tibet Autonomous Region Committee and TAR government Chairperson Qi Jhala shared that the agreement and understandings reached between Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Chinese President Xi Jinping would be brought into implementation.

Also, present on the occasion were State-3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel, federal parliament members, high-placed officials of Nepal government, Nepal’s Ambassador to China Leelamani Poudyal, private sector representatives and journalists
