Govt to set up Nepal-Germany bilateral consultation mechanism

Kathmandu, July 19: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota, informed that Nepal-Germany bilateral consultation mechanism would be set up, for which, the Foreign Secretary had been given authority to sign on the concept note.

At a weekly press meet organized to share the Cabinet meeting decisions on Thursday, July 18, Minister Banskota made it clear that the bilateral mechanism would be established to expand the two-country relations. Similarly, the government would provide Rs 3 billion to the Sajha Yatayat Cooperatives Ltd to buy 300 electric vehicles. The budget would be provided via the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport.

It would be government’s investment as share. The government has believed that the Cooperatives would provide quality public service with smooth management. The State 3 government has already decided to operate the e-bus with the collaboration of the Sajha Yatayat. He informed that it was decided by the Cabinet to send back five Sri Lankan people living in Nepal illegally.

Provision has been made for the 14 Division Road Offices handed over to the State governments to continue with the works of the Department of Road, according to Minister Banskota. Government has also decided to amend the procedure relating to development of Boutique Airport that was devised last year. Likewise, Narayan Prasad Bastola has been appointed as the General Manager of the National Housing Company Limited.

Minister Banskota shared that the Council of Ministers had approved the regulation relating to the facilities of the staffers at the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority. Seven people have been appointed the members of the Town Development Fund’s Board of Directors.

They are Damak Municipality’s Deputy Mayor Geeta Adhikari, Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Bijaya Saraogi, Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s Mayor, Renu Dahal, Pokhara Metropolitan City’s Mayor, Man Bahadur GC, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City’s Mayor, Shivaraj Subedi, Birendra Municipality’s Deputy Mayor, Mohan Maya Bhandari, and Gauriganga Municipality’s Mayor, Bhim Deuba.
