Kathmandu, August 26: The Investment Board Nepal (IBN) is carrying out a process to shortlist the companies expressing their willingness to build the Nijgadh International Airport (NIA) in Bara district.
Seven companies from six countries including Nepal, China, India, France, Qatar, and Switzerland have already submitted their proposals to the Investment Board Nepal (IBN).
Matrix Enterprises of Nepal, China Airport Construction Group and China State Construction Engineering Company from China, GMR of India, Qatar Airways, Vinci Group of France and Zurich Airport of Switzerland are those firms forwarding the construction proposals of the project
The IBN is said to be assessing such proposals to submit the names of the shortlisted companies in its upcoming full meeting of the board to be chaired by Prime Minister K.P Oli.
According to it, the selected company will build the airport either under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer model or the public-private-partnership model. The Rs 340 billion project is projected as the major aerial gateway of the country after Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports.
