Govt for tourism promotion with infrastructures development

Kathmandu, August 28: The government has decided to effectively implement the tourism promotion activities along with the development of the infrastructure in order to make the Visit Nepal Year 2020 successfully. The VNY 2020 is beginning after four months.

The VNY 2020 main celebration committee held its meeting yesterday under the chairmanship of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai. The committee decided to make the national and international programs under the VNY 2020, which has aimed at bringing in 2 million tourists.

Upgrading of Tribhuvan International Airport, operation of the under-construction Gautam Buddha International Airport, upgrading other domestic airports are kept in priority for welcoming the VNY 2020. On the occasion, Minister Bhattarai shared that partnership between government and private sector would be further intensified; all seven States would be prodded to make their preparation campaigns result-oriented by shaking up the existing committees and the district coordination committees and local level committees would incorporate stakeholder organizations in the preparations campaign.

The main celebration committees have a representation of over 40 organizations relating to the government, tourism, and non-resident Nepalis. After a month, the Visit Nepal Secretariat and the related organizations would sign the service contract. The grand contract ceremony would be held in the presence of the Prime Minister.

Moreover, the Nepali diplomatic missions would be written about the VNY 2020 and special guests provided Visit Year materials in order to mark coming Constitution Day (Asoj 3) as the special occasion. All seven States would organize special ceremonies on the first day (January 1) of the New Year 2020 as the inauguration of the Visit Year. The federal government would assist the States to organize the programs.

Even a resolution ceremony will be held gathering thousands of tourism entrepreneurs in Tundikhel in the presence of the President. Date to this will be fixed later. State 1 Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai viewed that new tourism destinations would be explored in addition to the expansion of tourism infrastructures. Karnali State Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi stressed the need for collaborative approach of the federal, state and local governments while launching preparatory activities. RSS
