The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has allocated a budget of NPR 31.40 billion for the fiscal year 2082/83.
At a press conference held today, CAAN provided a brief overview of its approved budget and programs. Compared to last fiscal year’s allocation of NPR 34.12 billion, this year’s budget has been reduced by NPR 2.71 billion.
However, the capital expenditure has been increased to NPR 12.39 billion, up from NPR 11.52 billion last year.
Similarly, NPR 6.15 billion has been allocated for operational expenses, which is slightly lower than last year’s NPR 6.52 billion.
For financial management, CAAN has earmarked NPR 12.85 billion in the current fiscal year.
Speaking at the event, CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari stated that the authority is focused on increasing capital expenditure and reducing operational costs. He stressed the need to review aspects such as airport charges and passenger service fees to enhance revenue.
Director General Adhikari also noted that the authority’s revenue sources are shrinking, and budget allocations have been decreasing each year, emphasizing the need for better resource management.
He added that efforts are ongoing to ensure the effective operation of Bhairahawa and Pokhara international airports.
