The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Social Security Fund (SSF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the social protection of workers.
Both organizations have agreed to collaborate on increasing awareness about social security in the industrial sector and encouraging the enrollment of workers into the social security system.
The MoU was signed on Monday during an orientation and interaction program on social security, jointly organized by CNI and SSF at the CNI secretariat.
Under the collaboration, CNI aims to facilitate the enrollment of member industries into the social security scheme, conduct awareness campaigns nationwide, provide necessary information, and work towards ensuring long-term labor welfare.
The MoU was signed by CNI Director General Dr. Ghanshyam Ojha and SSF Executive Director Kabiraj Adhikari. Speaking at the program, CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey said that the partnership is highly significant for both workers and industries. He expressed commitment to support regular participation of industries in the SSF and believed the partnership would help make the social security system more practical and accessible.
Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Dr. Krishna Hari Pushkar, stated that SSF is a key mechanism for ensuring safety and stability in workers’ lives. He said the agreement would increase engagement of workers and employers across all sectors and support their integration into the formal registration system.
CNI Vice President Bhim Ghimire highlighted that the SSF is not only a welfare initiative but also a major foundation for human capital development. He added that similar awareness and interaction programs will be expanded widely at the provincial level.
SSF Executive Director Kabiraj Adhikari further stated that the collaboration would strengthen the social security system and help expand workers’ benefits.
The event was attended by former SSF management committee member and Chairperson of CNI Employer Council Dhurba Rizal, SSF board member and Chairperson of Joint Trade Union Coordination Center Jagat Bahadur Simkhada, representatives of various affiliated federations, SSF officials, employer council members, and industry representatives.
