The government has released Rs 9.80 billion to support private businesses affected by recent vandalism during the Gen Z protests. The funds have been allocated for interest subsidies on concessional loans under the current fiscal year.
According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the decision was made in line with the Integrated Procedure for Interest Subsidy on Concessional Loans, 2025. The amount was disbursed on Saturday.
Joint Secretary Tanka Prasad Pandey, MoF spokesperson, said a ministerial-level decision has been taken to reimburse Nepal Rastra Bank for subsidies on loans disbursed over the past seven quarters.
The MoF statement further noted that the government has amended the annual program for the current fiscal year, revising the timeline for implementation of the interest subsidy scheme.
