The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has once again reminded all concerned parties to ensure that goods sold and distributed during the festive season are properly labeled with the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
During regular market inspections, the department found that several items commonly used during Tihar—such as Bhai Masala, copper and silver utensils, and decorative electrical lights—were being sold without proper MRP labels or price lists.
The department stated that it is actively working to maintain price stability by balancing market demand and supply. It emphasized that trading associations, business owners, consumer organizations, and consumers themselves all play an equally vital role in achieving this goal.
Consumers have been urged to purchase only those goods that display a clear MRP label or have a visible price list. In case of any complaints, the department has requested consumers to report issues via the toll-free number 1137.
