Kathmandu, January 6: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Kumari Aryal, has said that the process for the formation of Guthi authority has been forwarded after receiving complaints that Guthi Sansthan failed to protect the Guthis.

At an interaction with Struggle Committee organized by the Ministry here held yesterday day, Minister Aryal said that the government would protect religion, culture, tradition of Guthis. She said that the ministry held discussion among stakeholders to make Guthis well managed.

The Minister further said that there are different types of Guthis across the nation, so problems are also different. Minister Aryal added that the ministry is going to formulate laws related to Guthi in order to protect Guthi’s sentiments and aspirations.

She said that a total of 139 bigha of land of Guthi has been encroached and the Ministry is working to secure them. Similarly, Minister of State for Urban Development, Rambir Manandhar said that special attention should be given to protect Guthi linked with tradition and culture of Newar Community of Kathmandu Valley.

Likewise, Chairperson of Jyapu Mahaguthi Nepal, Rajbhai Jakami, and Chairperson of Rastriya Pahichan Sangharsha Samiti, Ganapatilal Shrestha, said that sentiments of Newar community should be incorporated in course of formulating laws. RSS
