India’s Central Electricity Authority has approved the export of up to 600 MW of electricity to Nepal շուրջ the clock from April 1 to April 15.
From April 16 to April 30, the export schedule will be reduced, with electricity supplied from 2 am to 6 pm and halted between 6 pm and 2 am.
Nepal typically imports electricity from India during the winter season, when reduced river flows lower hydropower production. According to Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Hiteendra Dev Shakya, the full-time supply in early April will meet demand, while the 16-hour schedule later in the month is expected to remain sufficient.
The electricity will be transmitted through the Muzaffarpur–Dalkebar 400 kV transmission line via the Indian power exchange. India also plans to resume 24-hour exports of 600 MW from July 1 to August 31.
