He asserted that the relations between the employers and workers were improving in the country in recent days due to these laws and this would have a positive impact on sustainable industrial development and labour relations. Dhakal said this while addressing the international conference related to labour and social dialogue held recently in The Hague, Netherlands.

The Employers Council chairman said these laws and policies obtained after holding long and the required consultations among the employers, labourers, trade unions and the government have helped make the relations between the employers, workers and trade unions more cordial and stronger.

Stating Nepal has started making efforts for having economic development in the country along with the promulgation of a new constitution issued after a decade-long conflict and the peace process, Dhakal informed that the new laws related to labour as well as social security have been achieved through the special initiation of the FNCCI, the common organization of the Nepali entrepreneurs.

An environment of industrial development and investment has been created in Nepal with the formation of a stable government having two-thirds majority backing, Dhakal, a national industrialist, said. On the occasion, he urged the world’s investors to invest in Nepal, adding that there are immense opportunities for investing in several sectors including tourism, hydroelectricity, agriculture entrepreneurship and infrastructure development in Nepal, a country rich in natural resources.

The FNCCI vice-president said the private sector has made a significant contribution to the economic development of Nepal and the government has also recognized this. He stated that the contribution of the private sector to Nepal’s economic development was about 60 per cent, adding agriculture is the backbone of Nepal’s economic development.

The conference was organized by FNV Netherlands, an international trade union organization of the Netherlands. Labour ministers, employers, trade union leaders and representatives from various countries participated in the conference. According to Dhakal, the experiences related to trade union of Nepal, Peru and Ghana were given priority in the conference this time. RSS
