Almost 79 percent of the drilling work for petroleum exploration has been completed in the Jaljale area of Bhairavi Rural Municipality-1, according to Ganesh Nath Tripathi, Chief of the Petroleum Project Division under the Department of Mines and Geology.
Tripathi confirmed that while 79% of the drilling has been finished, the exploration will only confirm the presence of petroleum products once the drilling reaches a depth of 4,000 meters.
The project is being funded with a grant of Rs 2.5 billion from the Chinese government. Drilling operations are being carried out in collaboration with the China Geological Survey and Sibu Drilling Engineering Company.
In related news, Karnali Province’s Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel visited the site to inspect the project’s progress and gather updates on the ongoing exploration efforts.
