Kathmandu, March 23 : The government has on Monday decided to enforce a week-long nationwide lockdown to be effective from 6 am on Tuesday.
A meeting of high-level government taskforce to prevent and control COVID-19 chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwar Pokharel came up with such decision.
During the lock down period, all the transportation services including air services will be suspended. Similarly, only the vehicles of security forces, health institutions and other permitted organisations will only be allowed to ply on the roads.
The cabinet meeting on Sunday had announced that Nepal would close all entry points with India and China.
So far, Nepal has witnessed only two imported cases of the deadly disease of COVID-19, which is taking a heave toll on many lives across the globe. The first case was reported in January while the second one was recorded today.
