On Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a decline of 14.12 points, closing at 2,734.83 points. The market opened at 2,748.96 points and briefly peaked at 2,757.38 points, but quickly dropped by 23 points. After a brief recovery of 20 points, the index hovered around 2,740 points for about an hour before experiencing another drop, reaching the day’s low of 2,728.85 points with just 18 minutes left in trading. The index made a minor recovery of 6 points before closing the session.
In terms of sector performance, the sensitive index, which tracks ‘A’ class companies, fell by 5.08 points. However, daily turnover slightly increased to NPR 7.91 billion from the previous day’s NPR 7.85 billion. Among the listed companies, 99 gained while 138 lost value. The finance sector emerged as the strongest performer, with a notable gain of 151.94 points. On the other hand, the non-life insurance sector faced the largest loss, shedding 167.50 points.
Among individual companies, Janaki Finance Company Limited led in turnover, with shares worth NPR 338.63 million changing hands. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited was the day’s biggest loser. Saptakoshi Development Bank and Shrijanshil Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited saw a significant 10% increase in their stock prices.
Overall, the market experienced some volatility, with mixed sector performances and only slight changes in the total turnover.
