The domestic stock market closed marginally higher on Monday after a volatile trading session, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gaining 1.53 points to settle at 2,695.73.
Sector-wise, development banks, hotels and tourism, manufacturing and processing, non-life insurance, and trading contributed to the market’s modest rise. The hotels and tourism sub-index led the gains, climbing 1.77 percent. Overall, 114 companies saw their share prices increase, while 134 companies declined.
Among individual stocks, SY Panel Nepal, Srinagar Agritech, and Himstar Energy hit the positive circuit, while Mithila Laghubitta Financial Institution was the only company to hit the negative circuit.
Despite the index’s slight gain, trading volume fell compared to the previous session, with a total turnover of Rs 8.22 billion, down from Rs 9.10 billion on Sunday. Akhu Khola Hydropower Company topped the turnover chart with Rs 413.9 million, followed by SY Panel Nepal (Rs 385 million) and Bandipur Cable Car (Rs 284.1 million).
