Kathmandu, July 9 : The Development and Technology Committee under the House of Representatives has directed the government to do the needful to resume taxi service across the county.

The Committee on Wednesday (July 8) held a discussion with the office-bearers of the workers’ associations and organisations related to public transport in this regard. The Committee asked the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to allow the operation of taxies by meeting COVID-19 standards set by the World Health Organisation, the Ministry of Health and Population and COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee.

The Committee has also decided to sit down with the CMC and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport in this regard soon. Taxi operation has been closed across the country since a nationwide lockdown was imposed on March 24, to stop COVID-19 from spreading.
